Six Sigma means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. It is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process – from manufacturing to service.

Applying Six Sigma in industry was first started by Motorola under Bill Smith, who is the "Father of Six Sigma". Since then, it has been adopted by other industries.
